Joseph Llewallyn Harris of Covington, GA died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Newton Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Dixon Harris, he was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up in Decatur, graduating from Decatur High School.

An independent businessman, Joe was a member of Pace Masonic Lodge #338 in Covington and served on the Board of Trustees for the Virgil P. Warren Foundation.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Dixon Harris, Jr. Survivors include his partner, Rebecca Hodge Hart of the home, daughter, Lisa Vanosdale of Knoxville, TN and nephews, John Dixon Harris, III of Kings Mountain, NC and Stuart Higgins Harris of Greensboro, GA and two half-brothers, Richard M. Harris of Gainesville, GA and J. Warren Harris of Scottsdale, AZ.

An avid outdoorsman, Joe enjoyed fishing and golf and lived life with great zeal and endless energy. He will be remembered as a warm, kind and fun spirit with a magnetic personality by his many lifelong friends who were his prize possession and who will remain his continuing legacy as he touched the hearts and souls of anyone who knew him. He did not know a stranger, and those who met him were always better for the experience.
