Fred "Freddie" Gilbert McCannon, Jr.

Fred Gilbert "Freddie" McCannon, Jr. of Greensboro, GA, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Wellstar MCG Health in Augusta, GA. Born and raised in Greene County, he was the only child of Julia Wilson McCannon of Union Point, GA and the late Fred Gilbert McCannon, Sr. He graduated from high school and received an associate degree from Georgia Military College. Freddie served his country in the National Guard. In 2016, Freddie retired from Georgia Power as a machine operator after more than thirty-five years of service. He was a member of the Walton Cycle Club of Monroe, GA.  His family, music and motorcycles meant so much to him. 

In addition to his mother, Julia McCannon of Union Point, his survivors include his partner, Kristi Wade of Greensboro;  daughters, Andrea McCannon Farmer (Martin) and Leslie McCannon Bryant (Shane) both of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren: Dylan Green, Bailey Green, Bailey Knight (Dalton), Hayden Bryant, Elijah Farmer and Trace Farmer; great grandchildren, Khloe and Kohen Knight.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Bobby Bear officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Dylan Green, Hayden Bryant, Elijah Farmer, and Trace Farmer along with his son-in-law, Shane Bryant and good friend, Tommy Flynt. Interment will follow at the Penfield Cemetery, 1211 Cemetery Road, Penfield, GA 30669.  The family requests that any memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 2121 Union Point Highway, Greensboro, GA 30642.
