Kay Josephine Van Kirk Nicholson of Union Point, GA, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Madison Health and Rehab in Madison, GA. She was 97. Born August 9, 1926 in Des Moines, IA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Van Kirk and Gertrude Mae Carnes Van Kirk. On March 12, 1953, she married Daniel Graff Nicholson who was a minister and therefore she helped him in his service to others. She was a homemaker and later worked for Style Rite and Horizon Growers. She had a heart of gold, loved her family and was able to live by herself until a few months before her death.
Kay is survived by her children, Susan Marie Nicholson Nichols and husband Stuart of Union Point, GA, Danille Alecia Nicholson Espy and husband Carleton of Cantonment, FL, Eric Owen Nicholson and wife Angela of Washington, GA and Phillip Allen Nicholson of Thomson, GA; grandchildren: Steven and Jenna Nicholson of Thomson, GA, Jarod Espy of Tyler, TX, Jonathan Espy and wife Leslie of Franklin, TN, Jonathan Nicholson of Washington, GA, Jeremy Nichols and wife Christi of Union Point, GA, Alecia Nichols Martin and husband Nathan of Ocilla, GA, Rebecca Nichols Adkins and husband Ben of Maxeys, GA, and Mary Nichols Miller and husband Keith of Wadley, GA; 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Brad Franklin Nicholson; and her siblings.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday night, April 6, 2024 at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Nichols, Jonathan Nicholson, Nathan Martin, Ben Adkins, Keith Miller and Stuart Nichols. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
