McCommons Funeral Home, Callaway Funeral Home and Georgia's Lake Country Crematory is a fifth-generation family owned and operated business that offers funeral services, monuments, memorials, prearrangements and cremation by licensed funeral directors to the Lake Oconee Area. The McCommons family began providing funeral services in the Greensboro, Union Point and the Lake Oconee area in 1895. 

We have Lake Oconee's only onsite crematory.  It is a state of the art computer driven system that can handle oversize and obese or overweight cremations up to 1000 lbs.  Operation is made simple by the fully automatic control sequence.  A microprocessor temperature controller with a digital readout ensures optimum control while providing the lowest fuel consumption.  Visual verification of each stage is provided on the control panel.  Our ten inch touchscreen operating system completely controls the cremation process, making less room for user error.

When cremation is chosen as a method of final disposition, the most important question every family should ask when choosing a funeral home is “where is the crematory located and who operates it?”  We are unique for the fact that we own and operate our own crematory. By owning and operating our own crematory, we ensure that cremation policies and procedures are carried out with the utmost detail, care, dignity, and professionalism.

All of our funeral directors have been CANA certified, state inspected and state licensed to operate the crematory. On many occasions, the same funeral director that goes to the place of death and meets the family for final funeral arrangements is the same person completing the cremation process and handing the cremated remains back to the family. The person you are talking to is the person who will do the cremation.
