Mildred Johnson Webb, 91, of Greensboro, Georgia passed away April 1, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens Georgia.
Mildred and her twin sister, Hildred, were born October 19, 1932 to Charlie Clayton and Susie Frances Johnson in Glascock County, Georgia. They were identical twins and their mother and siblings could not distinguish one from the other for many years. Mildred married the late John Harvey Webb in 1950. They made their home in Greensboro Georgia where they formed many businesses and raised their five children.
While her husband managed the construction side of the business, Mildred established the building supply and managed her rental properties. She loved her customers forming many enduring friendships over the years. She was a shrewd businesswoman, but always generous with her time and supported many charities over the years.
She was a member of Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church where she taught Childrens programs, bible school, and directed many Christmas programs. She was always gratified to see her young children grow up and come back to church with their young children. She sewed costumes for the plays and the choir robes for the choir members. She served the church in many capacities over the years, being instrumental in the building of the addition to the church. Her faith was strong and steady which helped carry her through difficult times in her life.
Her greatest joy was the love for her family. She enjoyed hosting the family and friends for any reason including holiday meals. She enjoyed cooking for her family and neighbors, sharing pies, cakes, and vegetables from her garden. She could often be seen bouncing around on her golf cart through the neighborhood as she shared and visited with friends.
Mildred is survived by her children Frances Alford, Allen (Rebecca) Webb, and Tim (Angie) Webb. Her grandchildren Leigh (Joe) Herald, Candace Wooten, Doug (Kelly) Oakes, Jr., David (April) Oakes, Kasey (Philip) Robinson, Savannah (Dustin) Schremmer, Ivy (Cayle) Cowherd and Bradley Webb. Great Grandchildren Julie Oakes, Dixie Oakes, Maddox Robinson, Shelby Robinson, Lane Schremmer, Emma Cowherd, and Edwin Cowherd. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Susan Webb, son-in-law Doug Oakes Sr., sister Hildred Harper, and brother H. Lee Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Jean Oakes, son Jeff Webb, and son-in-law Claude Alford.
