Essie Joe Liddell Coppins, age 84, of Greensboro, GA, died October 15, 2003 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. She was born in Fulton County on December 24, 1918 to the late Joseph Simpson Liddell and Essie Stanley Liddell. She graduated from Landon High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Liddell Paint and Glass in Gainesville, Florida. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, FL, the Gator Booster Club and the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Edgar Coppins in April of 2002. She is survived by a daughter, Lynn C. Copelan and husband Billy Jr. of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Mary Elizabeth McEachern of Gainesville, FL; a brother, Mose Stanley Liddell of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Billy Copelan III and wife Christie, Callie C. Luskus and husband Joe and Mary Jo Nugent and husband Penn; and six great grandchildren, Carrie Copelan, Kendall Copelan, Noah Luskus, Mallory Luskus, Harrison Nugent and Logan Nugent.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro with Rev. Scott Parrish and Rev. Ira McKeever officiating. Burial will be Monday, October 20, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Meadows East Cemetery in Gainesville, FL with Rev. Earl Parker officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Hot Boswell, Bob Dickson, Dan Randall, Lewis Duvall, Rooster Boswell, Wayne Corry and Jim Malcom. The family requests that any memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 216, Greensboro, GA 30642 or the Alzheimers Association, Georgia Chapter, 1925 Century Blvd., NE, Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at McCommons Funeral Home. Williams-Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements in Florida.
