Traditional Burial Service Options
Saying goodbye to someone we love is a most painful experience. A traditional funeral service is a celebration of one's life. Family and friends give emotional and physical support to one another. Survivors are helped in coping with their grief and moving forward with their lives. McCommons Funeral Homes and Crematory offers traditional funeral services for all faiths, either in our chapel or at any other location. The caring staff at McCommons Funeral Homes and Crematory honors the individual wants and needs of each family. Funeral services include counseling, preparing vital record statistics, securing permits, filing and obtaining death certificates and other forms and claims.
Several options are available for those who prefer a traditional burial service. A few of these options include a complete funeral service at the funeral home or place of worship with burial to follow; graveside funeral service of remembrance; and finally, immediate burial with no services. While these only cover the general types of burial services, your choices are not required to fit exactly into any particular category.
Personalization is a valuable element of today’s funerals. A ceremony can be individualized with musical selections, readings and displays to reflect the person's life, occupation and interests. It may reflect one's religious beliefs as a re-affirmation of faith in a greater life beyond this world. It may center on an ethnic background or social affiliation, or even reflect the occupation or hobbies of the deceased. Inviting friends and family to stand and say a few informal comments about the deceased can be very helpful to survivors. Family members are encouraged to express any ideas that will create a more meaningful and personalized service.
Cremation Service Options
Cremation is the process of reducing the body to bone fragments through the application of intense heat. Our new state of the art crematory can handle oversize and obese cremations up to 1000 pounds. This process usually takes approximately three hours and occurs in a special type of chamber or retort. The remaining fragments are then processed into a finer substance and placed in a temporary container. Several options are available for those who prefer cremation. A few of these options include a complete funeral service with a rental casket, viewing, visitation and a service with your loved one present and cremation afterwards replacing burial; a complete funeral service with a cremation casket, viewing, visitation and a service with your loved one present and cremation afterwards replacing burial; immediate cremation with a memorial service of remembrance; and finally, immediate cremation with no services. While these only cover the general types of cremation services, your choices are not required to fit exactly into any particular category. There are numerous options available to provide a meaningful service of remembrance. Sometimes one may want a beautiful urn in which to keep the cremains. McCommons Funeral Homes and Crematory can assist you with any of these options. You can have peace of mind knowing that we take care of everything at our onsite crematory and your loved one never leaves our care.
