William Ray Smith, Jr. of Buckhead, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at his residence in Buckhead, where he had lived for the past eleven years. He was 54 years old. Born in Greensboro, Georgia on July 20, 1971, he was the son of William Ray Smith, Sr. and Gerald Bonner Warren and Daryl. He graduated from Morgan County High School. Known affectionately as Wally by his friends and loved ones, he was a truck driver for Eagle Trucking Company until his retirement in 2015. On April 15, 2023, Wally married Crystal Nichole Jones in Buckhead, Georgia. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Wally enjoyed billiards, was a talented musician and singer, and worked as a sound technician.
Survivors include his father William Ray Smith Sr and mother Gerald Bonner Warren and Daryl; his devoted wife, Crystal Smith of Buckhead, Georgia; daughter, Anna Lee Peters and Byron; stepdaughters, Emily Ruth Watson and Tessa Grey Watson; son, William Ray Smith, III and Leah; grandchildren, Mayleigh Anne Smith, Walker Weylyn Heath, Macie Elizabeth Heath, Bella Grace Turpin, Emberlynn Rose Hutchison, Piper Jean Nicole Hutchison, Dakota Vanloon, and Zane Hynote; sister, Tonya Burgess, stepbrothers, Chris Warren, David Warren and Paul Warren, along with a number of nieces and nephews, other extended family members and numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, with Rev. Joe Hughes, Rev. Gary Pritchett and Rev. Scott Selph officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home and from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service on Thursday. McCommons Funeral Home, located at 109 W.
