William Fineran Obituary

William Harry Fineran, age 78, of Eatonton, Georgia, died October 13, 2020, at his home in Great Waters at Reynolds Plantation. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Thomas A. and Stefina (Planko) Fineran on June 1, 1942.  He graduated from Thomas M. Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1960 and later graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology In Southfield, Michigan in 1969 with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management.  In 1964 he went to work for Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Michigan in their Field Accounting Department.  He retired in 1997 as Supervisor of Financial Accounting and Warranty Systems Section, Service, Warranty and Financial Systems, and Parts and Service Systems Section.  Bill was a member and past president  of the Men’s Golf Association of Reynolds Plantation, a member of the Oconee Cup and the Reynolds Cup.  Bill was an avid golfer and traveler and also enjoyed photography, wood working, yard work, boating, reading, automobiles, snow skiing, practical jokes and politics.

Bill met his wife of 41 years, Mary Jo Fineran, while working at Ford Motor Company.  They married in January 1979 and resided in Northville Township, Michigan until he retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years, in 1997.  For the past 23 years they have enjoyed living in the Great Waters Community of Reynolds Plantation in Eatonton, Georgia. 

In addition to his wife Mary Jo Fineran, he is survived by his brother, James F. Fineran of Redford, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. and Stefina Fineran and his brother, Thomas R. Fineran.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made payable to Emory University in memory of William Fineran c/o Emory University, Office of Gift Accounting, 1762 Clifton Road, Suite 1400, Atlanta, Georgia 30322.  Donation will be added to the William and Mary Jo Fineran Parkinson’s Disease Research Fund.  A Memorial service will be held at a future date.  A Mass Intention will be offered up for William Harry “Bill” Fineran on November 24, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. The mass will be Live-Streamed on Christ Our King and Savior’s website.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
