Bill Crockett, age 64, of Buckhead, GA, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends. He was born November 15, 1945 in Hartford, CT to Evelyn Marion Staire Amo of Manchester, CT and the late Robert William Crockett. He graduated from Howell Cheney Technical School in Manchester, CT. In 1966, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country in the Vietnam War. On June 10, 1967, he married the former Evelyn Bagot. He began work in 1969 for Southern New England Telephone Company that later became AT&T. In January of 2004 he retired as the central office repairman. They moved to the Lake Oconee area in July 2005. There, on the lake, he and his wife built their dream home. Bill enjoyed woodworking, boating and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and being retired. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and a member of the Lake Oconee Lutheran Church in Eatonton, GA.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Crockett of Buckhead, GA; mother, Evelyn Amo; a daughter, Dina Neff and her husband Christopher of West Granby, CT; a son, Robert William Crockett of Mt. Airy, MD; grandchildren, Skylerr "Rosie" Neff and Kayleigh Neff; and many other relatives and dear friends.

Local Services were held on Saturday, September 18. On Saturday, September 25, 2010 the family will receive friends at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester, CT 06040 between 11:00 a.m and 12:30 p.m. and the service will immediately follow. Internment will be at East Cemetery, 240 E. Center Street, Manchester, CT. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 1027 Greensboro Road, Eatonton, GA 31024 or the Lukemia & Lymphoma Society, Georgia Chapter, 3715 Northside Parkway, 400 Northcreek, Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30327.
