William Carman, Jr. Obituary

William  Arnold "Bill" Carman, Jr. of Eatonton, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 86. Bill was born on May 30, 1939, in Atlanta, GA, to the late William Arnold Carman, Sr. and Theresa Hammond Carman. He earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia State University. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army. On February 23, 1963, he married the former Judy Tanner, and at the time of his passing, they had been married for sixty-two years. He served as the supervisor of Animal Health Labs for the USDA in Atlanta. After retiring, they relocated from Covington, GA, to Putnam County in 1996. Known for his helpful nature, Bill was actively involved in his community, serving as a volunteer firefighter and supporting fellow veterans. He was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Bill was also talented in various areas and enjoyed woodworking.

His survivors include his wife, Judy Carman of Eatonton, GA; daughter, Michelle Carman Zivic (Gregory) of Athens, GA; sons, William “Bill” Carman (Cindy) of Montrose, GA, and Brian Carman (Heather) of The Woodlands, TX; sister, Vivian Cowan (Ray) of Athens, GA; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Carman of Hoschton, GA and Lizanne Moore; grandchildren: Kelsey Zivic, Claire DeJunco (Joe) of Johns Creek, GA, Caroline Villalta (Sebastian) of Statham, GA, Cason Carman of Montrose, GA, Callie Carman, and Desmond Carman, both of The Woodlands, TX; and great-grandchildren Elliot Zivic, Declan, Cameron, and Mia DeJunco, and Maria and Manny Villalta; along with many friends.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Fox and brother, Tom Carman.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Our King & Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642, with Father Michael Silloway officiating. A reception will follow in the Sacred Heart Social Hall. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m., at McCommons Funeral Home. Graveside services will take place at Honey Creek Woodlands, 2625 Highway 212 S.W., Conyers, GA 30094, on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to St Vincent de Paul or the charity of your choice.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
