Willard Olin Griffeth, age 89, of Union Point, GA, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. He was born August 7, 1920 in Madison County, Georgia to the late Ernest Griffeth and Mary Ellen Morris Griffeth. Mr. Griffeth graduated from Union Point High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Army Air Corp in France and England during World War II as an airplane machinist. He then went to work for Union Manufacturing in Union Point, which later became Chipman Union, as a machinist in the knitting department. All of his life he was a jack of all trades and could fix anything that was broken. He also enjoyed working in his yard. Mr. Griffeth was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union Point.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ellenberg Griffeth in November of 2004. He is survived by a sister, Mary Griffeth Finch and her husband Harold of Union Point, GA; a brother-in-law, Maner Ellenberg and his wife Marjorie of Siloam, GA; a number of nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Union Point with Rev. Bert Mathews and Rev. Hal Burke officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Keith Ellenberg, Mark Ellenberg, John Ellenberg, Eric Ellenberg, George Windate, Jim Finch, Henry Lovin and Jack Cathey. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Evans Acree, a very special friend. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday night at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point. The family requests that any memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 714 Park Avenue, Union Point, GA 30669. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
