Waldo Johnson “Johnny” Lewis, Jr., of Greensboro, GA, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta, GA, at the age of 80. Born in Athens, GA, on January 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Waldo Johnson Lewis, Sr., and Thedeous Thurmond Lewis. He was a graduate of Greensboro High School and earned a Master’s degree from the University of Georgia. He served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1971. Johnny was married to the late JoAnn Butler, who preceded him in death in 2009. Johnny was a member of San Marino Lodge #34. For many years, he was the owner and operator of Johnny Lewis Trucking, where he built a successful logging business.
In addition to his wife, JoAnn Lewis, and his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Toni Lewis Barnhart and Jana Lewis Chillemi. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Ashley Lewis of Azusa, CA; along with nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, and close friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669, on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tommy Darracott officiating.
