Jenny Victoria “Vikki” Shelton Hammond, a longtime resident of Greensboro, GA, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 73. Born in Anniston, Alabama, on October 23, 1952, Vikki was the daughter of the late Thomas Levi and Mary Estell Odum Shelton. She had been a resident of Greensboro for fifty-one years. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and was married to Billy Ray Hammond on February 11, 1975. They shared forty-one years of marriage before his death in January 2016.
Vikki dedicated her professional life to healthcare, serving as a Lab Technician for Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital and later as a Medical Technologist for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a member of Walker United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Hammond and his wife Stacy of Greensboro, GA; her daughter, Crystal Hammond of Greensboro, GA and her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hammond; two grandchildren, Aiden Young and Emily Grace Hammond; and a number of other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sons, Michael Adrian Hammond and Joseph Hammond.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642. Chaplain Michael Woodward will be officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Vikki will be buried at Walker United Methodist Church.
