Versie Wood Jackson, 100, of Siloam, GA, died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. She was a native of Madison County, Georgia, but had lived in Greene County since 1928. Born on May 29, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Wood and Nancy Ella Henson Wood. She was a homemaker and a member of Siloam Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Darien Jackson. She is survived by a daughter, Martha J. Wimbish of Stone Mountain, GA; a son, Dr. James Larry Jackson and wife Valerie of Dalton, GA; four grandchildren, Rebecca W. Burch, Janet S. Martin, Cheri J. Holden and Laurie J. Liles; six great grandchildren, Scott P. Stewart, Wimberly Burch, Ashley Evans, Jordan Evans, Tyler Jones and Katherine Jones; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Charles Gheesling, Murell Byce, James Bryan and Goodwin Bryan. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Steve Jarrard and Tom Channell. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until time for the service Saturday at the Funeral Home in Greensboro. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
