Trampus "TJ" Lee Shelnutt, Jr.

Trampus "TJ" Lee Shelnutt, Jr. of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, due to a tragic accident. He was 24 years old. T.J. was born on February 14, 2001, in Athens, Georgia, to Krystle Yates of Greensboro, Georgia, and Trampus Lee Shelnutt, Sr. of Madison, Georgia. T.J. was a graduate of Greene County High School and was employed as a yard associate at Oconee Sand and Gravel in Eatonton, Georgia. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

T.J. will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his deep love for his family. He was a remarkable young man who positively impacted those around him and will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.

His survivors include his son, Waylon Shelnutt of Eatonton, Georgia; his mother, Krystle Leona Thompson Yates (Wayne) of Greensboro, Georgia; his father, Trampus Lee Shelnutt, Sr. (Susan) of Madison, Georgia;  sisters, Faith Thompson, Megan Burton (Austin), and Emily Shipman (Kyle); brothers, Trey Shelnutt and Brandon Yates; maternal grandmother, Esther Thompson; along with six nieces, three nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Funeral Home Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642, with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will include Brent “Biscuit” Mashburn, Austin Thompson, Jafari “Fari” Smith, Tommy Link, Austin Burton, Russell “Headd” Milton, Scott Burgess, and Hunter Shultz. Honorary pallbearers are Jarrett Leverett and Bobby Thompson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
