Thomas William "Billy" Swann, Sr. of Union Point, GA, died Friday, January 1, 2021 at Greene Point Health and Rehab in Union Point. He was 89. A native of Crawfordville, Billy was born September 14, 1931 to the late William Earl Swann and Mattie Elizabeth Nunn Swann. He attended Union Point High School and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On January 6, 1952 Billy married Jewel Vivian Sherrer and they made their home in Morrow, GA where he worked for Ford Motor Company for thirty years. In May of 1989 they moved back to Union Point, GA. He was a faithful member of Union Point Baptist Church. In his younger days he enjoyed bass fishing. More recently he enjoyed cutting wood and taking walks on his land. Billy was very family oriented and enjoyed all the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Billy is survived by a son, Tommy Swann and his wife Marsha of Union Point, GA; a daughter, Tammy Kirby and her husband Scott of Brooks, GA; sisters, Lois Odom and Lorene Hatfield; brother, Charles "Sam" Swann; grandchildren, Jennifer Harwell of Arnoldsville, GA, Holly Roland and her husband Brent of Hoschton, GA, Brittany Trejo and her husband Roberto of Brooks, GA and Brooke Collins and her husband Brandon of Senoia, GA; great grandchildren, Will and Layla Roland, Landon Kirby and Stella Trejo; other relatives and many friends. In addition to his wife Vivian Swann, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Frances Hockenberger; and his brother, Marion Swann.
Graveside Services with military honors will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev.
