Thomas J. Wojnas

Thomas J. Wojnas of Greensboro GA passed away peacefully at home with his wife and sisters at his bedside on Sunday, December 7, 2014.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Barrett Wojnas; daughter Jennifer Minich and son-in-law Bruce of Martinsville, NJ; daughter Allison Kucinski and son-in-law Keith of Ringwood, NJ; daughter Meredith Gerdeman and son-in-law Andrew of Glenmont, NY; nine grandchildren, Kayla, Tessa and Reese Minich, Jack, Aaron and Nathan Kucinski, Sam, Claire and James Gerdeman; sister Marie Delich and brother-in-law David of Greensboro, GA; and sister Patricia Wojnas of Washington, DC.  He was predeceased by his brother Richard, and mother Estelle, father Walter, and devoted step mother of 62 years, Bertha.

Born in Newark, NJ, Tom lived with his wife in Piscataway and Warren, NJ for 28 years while raising their children.  A graduate of Seton Hall University, Tom built a thriving wholesale and retail tire business.  He sold his business, Tire Associates, in 1998 and moved to Reynolds Plantation where he and Mary enjoyed golfing, lake activities, and many a get together with friends over gourmet dinners.  Tom was past Chairman of the Reynolds Plantation Board of Advisors, a member of the Lake Oconee Anglers Club, and an original member of the Pero Monday Golf Group.  He enjoyed sharing his love of fishing and boating with his grandchildren.  Tom began a long relationship with Habitat for Humanity, Greene County, first as a construction volunteer and then later as the manager of the Greene County Habitat Re-Store.  He was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister and Lector.

 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at their home.  A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 11 10:30 AM at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA.  Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, NJ on Saturday December 13 11:00 AM.
