Thomas Eugene Johnson, Jr.

Thomas Eugene Johnson, Jr., age 71, a resident of Eatonton, GA, died on Monday, May 25, 2020 at his residence surrounded by loved ones.  Tom was born on November 29, 1948, in Charleston, SC to Margaret Staunton Flud Morgan of Charleston, SC and the late Thomas Eugene Johnson, Sr.  In 1969 he graduated from Berkeley/Charleston/Dorchester Technical School now known as Trident Technical School.  He married his wife of fifty years, Janet Elizabeth McDonald, on March 14, 1970 in Charleston, SC.  Tom proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.  He had a long and successful career at SONOCO Paper working 37 years and retiring in 2008 as the Vice President of Operations.  After he retired, he and his wife, Janet, moved to Eatonton, GA, where he enjoyed boating, NASCAR and collecting Muscle Cars. 

In addition to his mother, Margaret Staunton Morgan of Charleston, SC and his wife, Janet Elizabeth Johnson of Eatonton, GA, he is survived by a daughter, Traci Lyn Gilbertson (Jeremy); son, Thomas Eugene Johnson, III (Jennifer); grandchildren, Presley, Merritt, Keller, Myer, Knox & Reese; sister, Lynda Gayle Johnson; brother, William Preston Johnson (Venice); other relatives and friends.
