Suzan Booker Obituary

Suzan Catron Booker, 60, of Greensboro, GA, passed away on March 31, 2022 unexpectantly from heart disease. Suzan was born to Dr. Donald G. Catron, Sr. and Elizabeth Young Catron on August 7, 1961 in Memphis, TN.

Suzan grew up in Knoxville, TN and graduated from Bearden High School in 1979 then went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee in 1983 where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Suzan’s professional career took her to Nashville then to Atlanta, where she met and married Stephen Booker in 2003. They loved attending Georgia Tech football games. Stephen often said Suzan’s smile lit up any room she entered. She was the only person he knew that could make a friend in five seconds.

After residing in Marietta for a number of years, Suzan and Stephen recently retired to Lake Oconee, GA where they were enjoying the lake life and days of pickleball with new friends.
Suzan is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Donald G. Catron, Sr. and father-in-law, Claude H. Booker, Jr. She loved them very much.

She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Stephen T. Booker, who was her best friend and love of her life; her mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Catron; sister, Karen Catron Smith; brother, Donald G. Catron, Jr. (Shannon); niece, Spring Smith; nephews, Carson Smith, Baylor Smith, Reese Catron, Spencer Catron; and a great-niece, Hazel Smith. She is survived by numerous close friends and extended family.

Per Suzan’s wishes, her body is to be cremated. A celebration of Suzan’s life will be held at a later date. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements. Visit us at www.mccommonsfuneralhome.com to sign the online guest register.
