Stephen "Steve" Walden Cole

Stephen Walden “Steve” Cole, a resident of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the age of 73 at Eatonton Health and Rehabilitation in Eatonton, GA.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 3, 1952, Steve was the son of the late Joann Peters Cole and Thomas Donald Cole. He spent his formative years in Atlanta and was a graduate of Gordon High School in Decatur. On September 13, 1977, he was united in marriage to Susan Denise Baggett Cole. 

Steve dedicated his career to Upjohn Pharmacy, where he worked as a supervisor until his retirement. Following his retirement, he and Susan relocated from Gwinnett County to make their home in Greensboro.

An avid outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also played golf during his earlier years and was passionate about collecting firearms. He was a dedicated fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Braves. Above all, his family and friends meant the world to him.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Susan Cole of Greensboro, Georgia; his two daughters, Kriston Marie Cole and Fallon Denise Cole and her husband Cliff Johnson; his brother, Thomas Wayne Cole; and his two cherished grandchildren, Riley Denise Johnson and Blake Thomas Maready. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Lake Oconee Bistro, 1130 Lake Oconee Pkwy, Eatonton, GA 31024.
