Stephen "Mike" Michael Thompson

    Stephen Michael “Mike” Thompson, age 71, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Born in Greensboro on July 2, 1953 he was the son of the late Roland Alexander Thompson and Willie Rebecca Poss Thompson Meek. He grew up in Greensboro and attended Greene County High School. Mike was always a truck driver working most of his time with Oconee Sand and Gravel and Wheless Grading Company. Known around town for wearing his hat backwards Mike always greeted you with “What’s up good man.” Mike never met a stranger and loved to talk and always had a corny joke to tell that would leave you in stitches. Picking on his wife Esther gave him great pleasure. His favorite saying was “My name Mike.” He was a jack of all trades and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He was a member of the Union Point Worship Center where he served as a deacon. In his free time he loved to fish.
    Survivors include his daughters, Stephanie Michelle Gleaton (Chuck) of Siloam, GA, Amanda Thompson (Jamal) of Alma, GA and Krystle Leona Yates (Wayne) of Greensboro, GA; sons, Stephen Michael Thompson (Leigh Ann) of Greensboro, GA and Bobby Thompson of Alma, GA; brothers, James Thompson (Teresa), Aubrey Meek (Lisa), and David Meek (Sandy); sister, Dodie Hodge; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Andy Thompson.
    Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Candy Arwood officiating. Interment will be in Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are TJ Shelnutt, Trey Shelnutt, Ryan Shelnutt, Michael Shelnutt, Austin Thompson, and Wyatt Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 8th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
