Sally Ann Shipman Barrett

Sally Ann Shipman Barrett, age 64, of Greensboro, GA, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Barrett was born December 10, 1939 in Pineville, WV to the late Thomas Charles Shipman and Mary Iva Gorby Shipman. She graduated from Parkersburg Catholic High School and Mt. Carmel School of Nursing in Columbus, OH. She last worked as a registered nurse in Royal Oak, MI and retired in 1999 to Reynolds Plantation. She was very active in the Reynolds Womens Club, Reynolds Hospitality Committee, Reynolds Ladies Golf Association, Dreamers Program, St. Vincent Depaul Society, Good Samaritan Clinic, Greene County Christian Outreach, Habitat for Humanity and the Womens Guild. She was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church in Greensboro.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Richard Barrett Jr., of Greensboro, GA; three sons, Eric John Barrett and wife Kelly Marie of Franklin, TN, Jason Thomas Barrett of Dothan, AL and Michael Justin Barrett of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters, Thomasina Schaffer and husband Joseph of Huntington, WV and Rebecca Hurst and husband Bill of Boston, MA; two grandchildren, Jackson Richard Barrett and Bridget Kelly Barrett; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Shannon Barrett.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at McCommons Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 15, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church in Greensboro, GA with Father Fernando Molina-Restrepo officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Hal Eckard, Peggy Eckard, Bob Rech, Pat Rech, Howard McKinley, Dorothy McKinley, Jerry Chihak and Andy Chihak.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the Burdett Room at Leavitt Funeral Home, 403 7th Street, Parkersburg, WV. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Parkersburg, WV with Father Joseph Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Parkersburg, WV.
