Ruth Mayfield Edwards

Ruth Mayfield Edwards, age 83, of White Plains, Georgia, died Monday, June 27, 2005 at Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville. A lifelong resident of Hancock County she was born September 12, 1921 to the late Benjamin Cospert Mayfield and Ada Jeanette Smith Mayfield. She attended Siloam and Meadowcrest Schools. She was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Mt. Stephens Baptist Church in White Plains, GA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Edwards. She is survived by four daughters, Martha Jean Meadows of Eatonton, GA, Mary E. Wilson of Madison, GA, Emily E. Harris of Kennesaw, GA and Ann Edwards of White Plains, GA; a sister, Julia Neese of Gainesville, GA; nine grandchildren, Tommy Barnett, Lisa Wooten, Cathy Slaughter, Joy Wilson, Bubba Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson, Perry Johnson, Brittany Deweese and Jessica Sherrer; five great grandchildren, Gerald Slaughter, James Slaughter, John Slaughter, Jeffrey Wooten and Anna Wooten; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Stephens Baptist Church in White Plains with Rev. Dennis Garner and Rev. Bob Boatwright officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Simpson, Joe Simpson, Ricky Simpson, Marty Edwards, Bobby Williams and Sidney Edwards. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Mt. Stephens Baptist Church and Lyle Edwards. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home.
