Russell Kapheim Obituary

Russell Raymond Kapheim of Buckhead, Georgia passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at his home with his loved ones. He was 93 years old. Russell was born on July 21, 1931, in Waukegan, Illinois to Robert and Katherine Kapheim. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He married the former Rita O’trice on August 6, 1955, in Warner Robins, GA. They have made their home in Buckhead for the last thirty years after moving from Decatur where they lived for seventeen years. Over the years he has worked at Illinois Bell and later at AT&T as the switchboard technician retiring in March of 1981. Russell loved the outdoors and playing golf was his favorite pastime. He was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Katherine Kapheim; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Kapheim and his sister, Carolyn Kapheim.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years, Rita Kapheim of Buckhead; sons, Glenn Kapheim and Gary Kapheim; daughter, Carol Kapheim; sister, Eleanor Muench; brothers, Thom Kapheim and Bobby Kapheim; three grandchildren, Maxwell Goodman, Sara Kapheim and Allison Kapheim; other relatives and many good friends.
