Roy Silbereisen

Roy Silbereisen of Eatonton, Georgia, entered into rest Sunday, October 16, 2016 at his home with his wife at his side. He was 88.

Son of the late Walter Silbereisen and Margaret Grandison Silbereisen, he was born on February 13, 1928 in Port Chester, New York.

He married the love of his life, Jean Vredenburgh, on October 16, 1976 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wappingers Falls, New York, and they were happily married for 40 years.

Roy enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served honorably at the Patuxent Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Maryland.  Roy was employed for over 25 years with Russell, Burdsall & Ward Bolt and Nut Company as regional sales representative for the New England area as well as Toronto and Montreal, Canada.  In 1977 he enjoyed a successful career as President and owner of Connecticut Fasteners, Inc. in Norwalk, Connecticut until his retirement. They moved from Hilton Head Island to Lake Sinclair in 1995 and settled permanently on Lake Oconee in Eatonton in 2005.  Roy became a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church.  He was also a member and former Captain of Reliance Engine and Hose and other industrial organizations.  He enjoyed boating, performing many DIY projects and being with his golden retriever companion, Duke.  

Besides his loving wife Jean, he is survived by his sons, Gary Hartnett and his wife Ginger of El Cajon, California and Roy Hartnett and his wife Kathleen of San Diego, California; 10 grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Roy is predeceased by a son, Robert Hartnett; three brothers, Walter, Peter, and John; and a sister, Margaret Boucheran.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church with Father Roberto Herrera officiating. Inurnment will follow that afternoon at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia. The family will receive friends following the service, in the church’s Narthex.
