Roy Carlton Lindsey

Roy Carlton Lindsey, age 74, of Greensboro, GA passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA.  Born October 2, 1946 in Washington, GA in Wilkes County he was the son of the late Walter Lindsey, Jr. and Margaret Lenore Robertson Lindsey.  Roy graduated from Greensboro High School.  After high school he joined the United States Army and served in Germany.  He worked for Channell Grocery in Greensboro and served as a policeman for the City of Union Point and the City of Greensboro.  As a child he attended the Penfield Presbyterian Church and later attended the Church of God in Greensboro. He enjoyed singing, playing a guitar and fishing.  He started his own band naming it The Traveling Band.

Survivors include his sons, Carlton Neal Wray (Selyn) of Winterville, GA, Lee Lindsey (Susan) of Thomson, GA  and Scott Lindsey of Union Point, GA; sisters, Carlene Noggle of Greensboro, GA, Susan West  of Louisville, KY and Dorris Lindsey of Greensboro, GA; brothers, Franklin Lindsey (Shirley) of Louisville, KY and Hoyt Lindsey of Greensboro, GA; five grandchildren, Alexis Wray, Bailey Wray, Carrie Lindsey, Jacob Lindsey and Elijah Lindsey.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Lindsey, his brother, James “Buddy” Lindsey and sister, Betty Lindsey Ray. 

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Greensboro City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Candy Arwood officiating. The family will have a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:.00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Serving as  pallbearers are Dan Noggle, Jonathan Cronic, Dusty Addington, Tyree Wray, Kelvin Kitchens and Mike Smith.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
