Obituary


Ronnie Lee Finch, Sr. of Union Point, died at his home on February 7, 2020 at the age of 71.  He was born February 20, 1948 in Greensboro, Georgia to the late Lillie Jennings Finch and the late Glenn Boswell Finch.  He graduated from Greene County High School in 1967.  He served four years in the United States Air Force 1967-1971.

His survivors are his wife of 51 years, Judith Byrd Finch and his children, Amy (Joey) Laux of Union Point, GA, Jenny Ward of Union Point, GA, Lee (Jessica) Finch of Carrollton, GA; seven grandchildren, Cammie and Kenzie Laux, Allie Laux (Bradley) Benkoski , Jacob and Noah Ward, Jordan Finch (Danny) Sines, and Will Finch; six great grandchildren, Aiden, Brody, Addison, and Aubree Benkoski, Abby and Tripp Sines. He is also survived by his sister, Connie (Jim) Tatman of Marietta, GA. 

Ronnie loved working with his hands making wooden items and jewelry.  His passion was his family and he loved doing things with them and for them.

He was a member of First Baptist Church Union Point and served as a Youth Sunday School Teacher and deacon for over twenty years.  He was City Superintendent for Union Point for twenty years and later had his own business selling utility supplies to cities in Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean King and Evelyn Dunn and brothers, Glenn Finch and Johnny Finch.

The family will receive family and friends at Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N. Rhodes Street,  Union Point, GA 30669 Sunday February 9, from 6-8.  The service will be Monday February 10 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Paul Jackson and Rev. Alec Ward officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669.  Serving as pallbearers are Ed Roland, John Roland, Dean Roland, Jacob Ward, Noah Ward, Will Finch, Danny Sines, Bradley Benkoski and Sandar VanLaan. Donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, P. O.
