Robert "Bobby" Lamar Swann

Robert "Bobby" Lamar Swann, 84, of Union Point, GA passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at his home with his family. A Union Point native, he was born April 1, 1939 to the late Albert Melvin and Leila Mae Ogletree Swann and has lived in Union Point all of his life.  He graduated from Union Point High School as their Valedictorian. On June 19, 1978 he married the former Virginia Hobbs Beard.  For nearly thirty years he worked for Chipman Union as the foreman of the Dye House.  His hobbies included fishing and hunting.  As long as health permitted he was a faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Union Point.  His favorite saying was “It is what it is”. 

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Swann of Union Point; daughter, Lisa C. Beard Ferguson, son, Michael K. Beard; sisters, Roslyn S. Hudson and Kathryn S. Kessler; brother, Albert L. Swann; and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Coile.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30  p.m. until time for the service at the Funeral Home in Union Point.  The family request that any memorials be made to Bethesda Baptist Church, P.
