Robert Lewis Leach, age 83, of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, July 4, 2004 at Athens Regional Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born June 5, 1921 to the late John William Leach and Ellen Curnalus Manning Leach. In 1940 he graduated from Greensboro High School. Along with his father and brother he was a carpenter and later drove a truck for Lena Hy Garment Company. He was a member of Walker United Methodist Church. A� Survivors include his wife, Mable Eaton Leach of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Eloise Hopkins and husband Roger of Union Point, GA; a son, Thomas L. Leach and wife Annette of Greensboro, GA; three grandchildren, Julie L. Etheridge and husband Phillip of Eatonton, GA, Heather L. Moon and husband Eugene of Greensboro, GA and Chris Leach and wife Stephanie of Greensboro, GA; five great grandchildren, Cassie Etheridge, Sarah Leach, Stephanie Ann Hopkins, Cord Hopkins and Adam Hopkins; a sister-in-law, Leora Leach of Greensboro, GA and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith L. "Judy" Leach in July of 2002; a grandson, Robbie Hopkins; a sister, Sarah Wagnon; and a brother, Asbury Leach. A� Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Gary Nicholas officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Loren Leach, David Queen, Edward Clements, Allen Eaton, Richard Dingler and Ricky Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Moore, Niles Webb, Jimmy Moore, Billy Leach, Gary Leach and Frank Hopkins Jr. The family requests that any memorials be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, 2491 Shiloh Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
