Robert Allen Jarrell

Robert Allen Jarrell of Penfield, GA, died on Monday, May 16, 2016, at PruittHealth-Gardenview in Athens, GA, at the age of 75.  A lifelong resident of Penfield, he was born there on June 23, 1940 to the late Thomas Edwin Jarrell and Sarah Helen English Jarrell  He grew up in Penfield, where he attended Penfield Baptist Church and graduated from Greensboro High School.  For thirty-three years he worked as a machinist at Southwire Company in Watkinsville, GA retiring in 2002.  On September 2, 1966 he married the former Dorothy Burgess.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, cutting grass, cutting hay and bush hogging.  He also enjoyed working with cows and chickens and in his spare time watching westerns.  
 
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Jarrell of Penfield, GA; daughters, Yvonne Jarrell and Donna Jarrell both of Penfield, GA; brother, Rev. Thomas Jarrell (Pat), granddaughter, Isabel Marie Perez; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Leigh Lundy and brother, Charles Larry Jarrell, Sr.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Tommy Jarrell officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the Penfield Cemetery, 1211 Cemetery Road, Penfield, GA 30669.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
