Robert Andrew Babb, age 81, of Greensboro, GA, died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Rockdale Medical Center. Born in Henry County on May 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Andrew Clay Babb and Annie Mae Steele Babb. He was a graduate of Henry County High School. After high school, he joined the Army and served during World War II. He retired from the Army Reserve as a Command Sergeant Major. Later he worked as a Shop Superintendent with the Post Engineers at Ft. Gillem and worked special effects with Spectacular Effect International, a film making company. Mr. Babb was a member of Walker United Methodist Church in Greensboro where he had lived for the last fourteen years since July of 1992.
He is survived by his wife, Reita B. Babb, of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Lainnie M. Bowers and husband Steve of McDonough, GA; a granddaughter, Ceara Babb of McDonough, GA; a sister Helen Berry of McDonough, GA; a brother, Wesley Babb and wife Lois of McDonough, GA; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Clay Babb. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Walker United Methodist Church with Rev. Clyde Smith and Rev. Bob Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Andy Berry, Ricky Berry, Mike Elrod, Jonathan Strait, Norman Babb and Craig Elrod. The family requests that any memorials be made to Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.
