Following his military service, he met and married the love of his life, Nancy Ellen Karr at Second Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth, Ohio. After Dick’s retirement they built a barn on their property at Reynolds.

Dick had a successful career with the Coca Cola Company, where he started out selling fountain Coke to restaurants. He progressed to managerial positions in Columbus and Detroit. He ended his career at the Coke headquarters in Atlanta, where he was the national accounts manager for a major restaurant chain. In 1997 Dick retired to their property at Reynolds. Nancy retired as an executive secretary for Gilman Paper Company.

Nancy and Dick traveled extensively with the Coca Cola company. Nancy was the perfect hostess.  In retirement they retired to Reynolds, where they were both avid golfers.
