Rev. Mark Fessler Obituary

Mark Alan Fessler (71) passed from this life to the next on Saturday, October 30th, 2021 where he finally received his eternal victory and came face to face with his Savior.

Mark was born on November 11, 1949 in Covington, KY to Marvin and Margie (Hillman) Fessler. He was a graduate of Atlanta Christian College (Point University) in 1971 where he met the love of his life, Ann. They married November 23, 1971 and spent nearly 50 loving years serving together in ministry. He received his Master of Christian Education degree from Emmanuel Christian Seminary (formerly Emmanuel School of Religion) in Johnson City, TN. Mark served local churches in Johnson City, TN (Youth Minister), Reidsville Christian Church in Reidsville, NC (Youth Minister), East Point Christian Church in East Point, GA (Music Minister and Principal of Pathway Christian School), First Christian Church of Jonesboro, GA (Worship Minister), Hardwick Christian Church in Milledgeville, GA (Senior Minister), and Fairway Christian Church in The Villages, FL (Senior Minister). Mark also served Mid-South Christian College in Senatobia, MS as Professor of Christian Education, Academic Dean, and Music Director.

Of the many important roles Mark lived out, his first love was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, followed by his commitment and devotion to his wife, Ann, and as a father to his four children and twelve grandchildren. Aside from family and ministry, Mark enjoyed fishing, watching Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays baseball, playing the piano, and singing. Above all else, Mark dedicated his entire life to serving the local church and seeing lost people come to the Lord.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Fessler, and survived by his loving wife Patricia Ann Irvin Fessler of Greensboro, GA, mother Margie Fessler of Tennille, GA, brother Paul (Debbie) Fessler of Douglasville, GA, daughter Cheryl (Darrell) Portwood of Crawfordsville, IN, son Jeffrey (Jennifer) Fessler of Guyton, GA, daughter Karen (Chris) Minton of Greensboro, GA, and daughter Susan (Tommy) Wood of Trenton, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Garrett, Cameron (Bekah), Anna (Mason) Gaskin, and Aidan Portwood; Emily and Ethan Fessler; Lucas and Levi Minton; and Evie, Isaac, Malachi, and Zechariah Wood.
