Rebecca “Becky” Sue Henson Ward, of Greensboro, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center at the age of 71.
Born in Independence, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Inez Henson. Becky moved to Greensboro two and a half years ago to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She graduated from Raytown High School and, throughout her career, worked at Research Medical Center and Gemaco Playing Cards. After relocating to Greensboro, she became a devoted member of Lakeside Church for as long as her health allowed.
Becky cherished time spent with her family above all else. She especially loved being with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas, shopping, and caring for her beloved pet, Bailey.
She is survived by her son, James Ward of North Port, FL; her daughter, Katie Williams, and son-in-law Jason Williams of Greensboro, GA; three grandchildren, Logan, Tember, and Conley, all of Greensboro; her sister, Cynthia “Cindy” Henson of Blue Springs; as well as other loving relatives and friends.
Becky was preceded in death by the father of her children, Ted Ward; her siblings, Jennifer Henson Riley and John Donovan Henson; and her nephew, Joshua Quillen.
A graveside service celebrating Becky’s life will be held by the family on Friday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Newcomer's Floral Hills Cemetery.
