Raymond Chalmers Wiggins, Sr.

Raymond Chalmers Wiggins, Sr. of Greensboro, GA, died on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Greene Point Health and Rehab in Union Point, GA at the age of 75. Born in Augusta , GA in Richmond County on June 15, 1944, he was the son of the late Emmitt Doris Wiggins and Alma Ruth Rosier Wiggins.  On March 30, 1973 he married Dorothy Ione Guined and they had been married for forty-six years.  His working career began at Uniroyal in Thomson, GA. After it closed down, they moved to Union Point, GA where he worked for Hometown Manufacturing in Greensboro, GA.  When they closed he worked for Chipman Union and Associated Mills in Union Point.  For each of these jobs he was the fixer or mechanic. Before he retired he worked for GroTech in Eatonton, GA.

Raymond loved his family, hunting, fishing and working outdoors.  Raymond knew God and the bible even though he didn’t attend church.  He was a kind and gentle man, who would offer help to anyone in need.  He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 63.  He continued to enjoy walking outside, looking at flowers and the land that they both worked on in Greensboro, GA.  Raymond had been a resident of Greene Point Nursing Home since March 25, 2015.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy Ione Wiggins he is survived by his children, Robin Lynn Taylor of Thomson, GA, Michael Shawn Wiggins and his wife Sheri (Brooks) Wiggins of Bairdstown, GA, Rodney Chad Wiggins and his wife Amanda (Ogle) Wiggins of Greensboro, GA and Regina Faith Wiggins of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren Tony Taylor, Selena Nickolson, Sylvia Justice, Stephanie Morris, Victoria Wiggins, Randy Wiggins, Rhett Phillips, Dylan Butler and Ayla Phillips; four great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Chalmers Wiggins, Jr.

The family will receive family and friends at a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the chapel of McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
