Raymond Russell Webb, age 57, formerly of Greensboro, passed away on September 28th, 2020. He was a graduate of Greene County High School in 1981. Upon graduation, Raymond went to work for the Greene County Board of Education. In addition to his work with the Board of Education, Raymond served as a deputy under both Sheriffs Jimmy Finch and Ricky Brown. He was a member of the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years, ultimately achieving the rank of Captain. Raymond’s main hobby was working on police radios and scanners and he was a Motorola retailer for a period of time. Raymond was a member of the Greensboro First United Methodist Church.
Raymond is survived by his two brothers, Fred Jr. of Waynesville, NC, and Wade (Justine) of Penfield, Ga, and his sister Bonnie Robbins (Bob) of Fairbanks, Ak. as well as four nieces, Kayla Cantrell of Greensboro, Ga, Samantha Webb of Gainesville, Ga, Jodie Webb of Baldwin, Ga, and Moriah Robbins of Fairbanks, Ak, and two nephews, Jeremiah Robbins of Fairbanks, Ak and Solomon Webb of Penfield, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred L. Webb, Sr and Kay S. Webb of Greensboro, Ga, and his sister-in-law Melanie Webb of Waynesville, NC.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM. at Greensboro City Cemetery with former Sheriff Jimmy Finch officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM before the service at the funeral home. The Greensboro Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
