On February 8, 2024, Randall Burns Purdy of Greensboro, GA, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 71. Born March 17, 1952 in Washington, GA, where he grew up and graduated from Washington Wilkes High School, he was the oldest son of Burns Ralph Purdy and Mildred Sayer Purdy. After high school he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. On November 17, 1985 he married Kathryn Rainwater his wife of thirty-eight years. Randy had a long and successful career as a salesman of automobiles for Greensboro Ford and Acura of Athens. At one time he was the manager for the Greene County Country Club. His interests included football and watching the Atlanta Braves. Randy was a member of Grace Fellowship and was the District 2 Representative for the Greene County Zoning and Planning Board. Randy had a great sense of humor and will be missed by so many.
Besides his wife, Kathryn Purdy, he is survived by his children, Brad Long (Dawn) of Statham, GA, Chris Purdy (Jennifer) of Gainesville, GA, Rhannon Purdy of Covington, GA, and Brian Long (Melisa) of Arnoldsville, GA; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many close friends. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Buttons and dog, Teddy. Preceding him in death was his brother, Timothy Purdy.
A private Celebration of Randy’s Life will be held at a later date. Any memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
