Rachel (Roses) Smith

Rachel Roses Smith of Greensboro, GA passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA.  She was 69.  Born in Denver, CO on October 30, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Augustine Roses and Helen Villalobas Roses.  She graduated from West High School in Denver, CO and on March 26, 1971 she married Robert Lee Smith from Greensboro. She met him in Colorado while he was living and working there.  At the time of her death, they had celebrated over fifty years of marriage.  Robert and Rachel moved back to Greensboro in 1976. After seventeen years as the Housekeeping Manager at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, she retired in 2017.  Rachel was a member of the Union Point Worship Center.  She was very talented doing all sorts of crafts such as needlepoint, sewing and others.  She really enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Her survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Smith; two daughters, Justine Yvonne Webb (Wade) of Union Point, GA, Shawna Lynn Nakagawa (Marc) of Corinth, MS; a son Lee Anthony Smith (Dawn) of Pensacola, FL; nine grandchildren, Jesse Taylor Smith (Natosha), Kes Olivia Smith, Robert Lee Smith II, Corbin Stephen Smith (Jessica), Kayla Renae Cantrell, Solomon Matthew Webb, Kyra Tsukiko Nakagawa, Katie Asami Nakagawa and Kimberly Rachel Nakagawa; siblings, Cecilia Roses, Joann Rodriguez, Dave Roses and Daniel Roses.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Augustine Roses, Artie Villalovas, Alex Roses and Tony Roses.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the funeral home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
