Peggy (Stewart) English

Peggy Stewart English, age 83, of Union Point, GA, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at The Landing Senior Living of Bogart in Bogart, GA, where she resided to be closer to her family. Born on June 19, 1942, in Washington, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Louis Clayton Stewart and Martha Dean Stewart. Peggy graduated from Union Point High School and served as the office assistant at Greene Point Nursing Home in Union Point for many years. She married Roy English on April 19, 1964. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point, participating as long as her health allowed. Peggy had a passion for flowers and cultivated some of the most beautiful gardens, which she generously shared with family and friends. She was also a member of the Union Point Garden Club and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Additionally, she assisted Rutherford’s Flower Shop whenever needed. A devoted mother and grandmother, she cherished her twins, James “Jim” and Jennifer, and granddaughter Taylor, all of whom will miss her dearly. Gardening was a source of joy for her, and she also enjoyed singing along to her favorite songs.

Survivors include her son, James “Jim” English, and his wife Michelle, of Nicholson, GA; daughter, Jennifer Adkins, of Madison, GA; granddaughter, Taylor English, of Athens, GA; sister, Becky Wilkes, and her husband Rusty, of Watkinsville, Georgia; along with numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy English, and sister, Barbara Norris.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669, with Rev. Marc Lhowe officiating. A visitation will be held at Callaway Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Traditions Hospice of Bogart, 1561 Lenru Rd.
