Pauline Olds of Greensboro, GA died January 19, 2002 at Willow Run Retirement Home. A native of Penfield, GA, she was born October 1, 1909 to the late Dora Dryer English and Stephen Shelby English. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank L. Olds of Barbour County (Louisville), Alabama. She is survived by three daughters, Deanna Cumberland of Novato, CA, Julie St. Michaels of Marietta, GA, Susan Bishop and husband Terry of Louisville, AL; one sister, Gussie Johnson of Penfield, GA; one sister-in-law, Dimple Strother of Pine Mountain, GA; four grandchildren, Cindy Cumberland Huidekoper of Novato, CA, Jeff Cumberland of Petaluma, CA, Matt Miller of Woodstock, GA, Mindy Miller of Decatur, GA; four great grandchildren, Christina Cumberland, Tyler Cumberland and Molly Cumberland all of Petaluma, CA; Angela Huidekoper of Novato, CA; special friends, Hoyt Kearns and Gayle Jones of Greensboro, GA; special relative, Sara Dreyer of Greensboro, GA; and a host of friends.
Pauline married Frank in 1936 and settled in the Chicago area and raised their daughters in LaGrange, Illinois, where she was active in many philanthropic organizations. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaGrange, Illinois. They returned to live in Greensboro, GA when her husband retired in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro, Greene County Country Club, Greene County Garden Club and Women''s Club. She enjoyed watching wild birds and was an avid bridge player. She spent her life generously sharing her joy and laughter with her family and friends and they have been richly blessed by knowing this gracious and remarkable lady.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Penfield Cemetery with Rev. Dave Sandridge officiating. The family requests that memorials be made to the Pauline Olds Tree Memorial at Willow Run Retirement Home, 1061 Willow Run Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
