Nora Christopher King, age 94, of Watkinsville, GA, formerly of Greensboro, GA passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at her son’s home. A native of Greene County, Mrs. King was the daughter of the late Chatmon Ray Christopher and Mattie Sue Brewer Christopher. She was born June 7, 1927 in Greensboro and was educated in the Greene County school system graduating from Greensboro High School. Nora married Melvin in 1946. For many years she was a clerk for Lord’s ABC in Greensboro. Nora enjoyed watching murder mystery shows, cooking, sewing and reading. Several years ago she moved to Watkinsville, GA to live with her son and his wife.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin King in March of 1988; son, Alan King; granddaughter, Cynthia Leigh King; and her siblings, Harold Christopher and Dora Christopher. Survivors include her son Ray King and his wife Beverly of Watkinsville, GA; grandchildren, Chad King, Angela King Higginbotham and her husband Scott; great grandchildren, Blake King, Dustin King, Haleigh Padron, Mackenzie Higginbotham, Ryan Evans, Jocilyn Higginbotham, Cayla Evans, great great grandchildren Ariella Cynthia Delgado and Arianna Amaia Delgado; and a niece Sheila Lloyd.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Greensboro City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Chad King, Blake King, Scott Higginbotham Tommy Evans and Ryan Evans. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday prior to the service. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
