Nina Hunter Corry, formerly of Siloam, GA., died February 6, 2007 at Oak Mountain Village Assisted Living in Carrollton, GA. Born in Oglethorpe County, January 7, 1909, she was the daughter of the late James Howard Hunter and Nina Johnson Hunter. Mrs. Corry spent her childhood in Oglethorpe County where she graduated from Crawford High School. She then graduated from Georgia State Teachers College in Athens. Before marrying she taught school in Union Point and Warrenton, GA. After she married Floyd Thomas Corry she taught school in Greene County for thirty-two years touching the lives of many children. Mrs. Corry was a member of the Greene County Historical Society, the Library Board and the Greene County Retired Teacher''s Association. She was a longtime member of Siloam Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Thomas Corry in November of 1955; a sister, Lucy Hunter and a brother, Guy Richter Hunter. Surviving family members are her daughters, Carolyn Spears of Douglasville, GA, Martha Thomas and husband George of Carrollton, GA and Betty Mullins and husband Alvin of Morrow, GA; six grandchildren, Beth Metzger, Chris Thomas, Tommy Shelnutt, Carole Murphy, Sheila Green and Rick Thomas; eleven great grandchildren; niece Ellen Dyas; nephew Jim Hunter; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at the Siloam Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in the Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Shelnutt, Rick Thomas, Chris Thomas, Jim Hunter, Marvin Bell and Tony Bell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night in the historic Hall-Thomas house.
