Nell Kate Robertson Thompson

Nell Kate Robertson Thompson, age 81, of Greensboro, GA, formerly of Tallapoosa, GA, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Willow Run Retirement Home. Born on August 10, 1926 in Haralson County, she was the daughter of the late Curtis Wilson Robertson and Annie Worthy Lyle Robertson. Nell graduated from Tallapoosa High School and Georgia State University. During her working career she worked as a secretary for Johnson & Johnson-McNeil Laboratories and Edward''s Baking Company. She was cherished by her family and dedicated to her children. She loved to quilt and made several heirlooms that are priceless to her family. As a young adult she was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Tallapoosa, GA and later was a member of Avondale First Baptist Church for twenty years. Mrs. Thompson had made her home at Willow Run Retirement Home since March of 2007.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil William Thompson in 1956 and a son, Kenneth Leon "Camo" Thompson. She is survived by a daughter, Pat Walker of Juno Beach, FL; two sons, William Michael Thompson and wife Cheri of Buckhead, GA and Robert Steven Thompson and wife Terry of Eatonton, GA; three sisters, Elizabeth Robertson of Eatonton, GA, Anne Van Tassell of Eatonton, GA and Martha Akins of Dahlonegah, GA; a brother, Bob Robertson of Carrollton, GA; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 21, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Ira McKeever officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Thompson, Lee Sims, Steven Thompson, Bo Walker and Dusty Walker. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. Interment Services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery in Tallapoosa, GA.
