Nancy (Dover) Lowry

Nancy Dover Lowry of Union Point, GA passed away on March 4, 2021 at her residence at the age of 73.  She was born in Maxeys, GA on May 26, 1947 to the late Vernon Bishop Dover and Winnie Pearle Marcus Dover.  At the age of six her family moved to Union Point where she attended school and graduated from Union Point High School.  She was the owner of Burger Ranch in Union Point and later the manager of Hardee’s in Greensboro for thirteen years.  Over the years she worked for Style Rite, Channell’s, Bilo, Ingles and Stewart Finance.  Nancy served on the Union Point City Council for four years, was a Cub Scout leader and also served her community through Atlas Ministries. She was one of the first EMT’s when it started in the late seventies.  Nancy was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Union Point, but more recently was attending New Life Baptist Church in Washington.  Nancy shared her talent of singing at many churches and funerals.  She also sang at Durhamtown and Greene Point Health & Rehab on Sundays.  She loved her family and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her husband Ray Lowry of Union Point, GA; sons, Matthew Smith (Lisa) of Crawfordville, GA, Bob Watkins and Marco Lashley; daughter, Laurie S. Harris (Jimmy) of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Ashley Cason (Jimbo), Cody Leach (Lainey), Dustin Harris (Jasmine), Taylor Harris, Erica Yearwood, Brandon Smith, Melissa Vogt (Wade Dixon), Justin Smith (Julia); nine great grandchildren; brothers Terry Dover and wife Martha of Auburn, GA and Dennis Dover and wife Lynn of Union Point, GA; In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband Larry D. Smith; sister, Mildred Sanders; and a brother, Leroy Dover.

Graveside Services will be held at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669 at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2021 with Rev. Bruce Lovin and Rev. Arthur Key officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
