Myrtle Gheesling Walker

Myrtle Lee Gheesling Walker, age 92, of Union Point, GA, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. She was born on August 28, 1917 in White Plains, Georgia to the late Hubert Ace Gheesling and Nellie Clyde Barnes Gheesling. She attended Greensboro High School and worked at Union Manufacturing for a couple of years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point and a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Franklin Walker in June of 1987; a son, Edward Herbert Walker in August of 2006; a daughter, Joe Ann Walker, who lived only five days; and siblings, Grace Webb, Sallie Mae Seals and Clarice Perry. She is survived by two sons, Freddie G. Walker (Susan) of Greensboro, GA and Barry L. Walker (Iris) of Lexington, GA; nine grandchildren, Teresa Dunagan (David), Scott Walker, Wade Walker, Jeremy Walker, Justin Yearwood (Leah), Abe Hutchins (Stephanie), Lee Walker (Christie), Brandon Walker (Carolene), and Katie Walker Dudas (Larry); seven great grandchildren, Danni Lee Dunagan, Samantha Dunagan, Hailee Hutchins, Madison Hutchins, Mason Hutchins, Lilly Grace Yearwood and Marley Hope Yearwood; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Union Point with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Scott Walker, Wade Walker, Jeremy Walker, Lee Walker, Brandon Walker, Justin Yearwood, Abe Hutchins, David Dunagan and Larry Dudas. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Union Point. The family requests that any memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton Street, Union Point, GA 30669.
