Mildred Mozelle Turner McElhannon, age 85, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Friday, September 26, 2003 at Eatonton Health Care Center. Born in Jackson County on June 11, 1918, she was the daughter of the late E. F. Chastain and Sadie Baker Chastain. She worked for Mary Leila Cotton Mill in Greensboro where she had lived most of her life and Chickopee Mill in Athens. She was a member of Willow Springs Church in Social Circle.
She is survived by three daughters, Geneva M. Bryson and husband Sidney of Greensboro, GA, Lois West of Union Point, GA and Brenda Pinkerton and husband James of Eatonton, GA; a son, Aubrey McElhannon and wife Myra of Carrollton, GA; a sister, Olly McDonald of Greensboro, GA; nine grandchildren, Ellen Bryson Sweezey, Marian Elizabeth Bryson, Sydney Marie Gill, James Cecil Edwards Jr., Laurie Lee Edwards McCannon, Sonja Elaine Pinkerton, Karen Rebecca Baumann, Timothy Scott McElhannon and Stephen Roy McElhannon; and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus McElhannon; and two sisters, Irene West and Rachel Channell.
Graveside services will be held Monday, September 29, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery with Rev. J. C. Studdard officiating. The family requests that any memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1060 Gaines School Road, Suite B-2, Athens, GA 30605.
