Mildred Durham Bryan, age 98, of Covington, GA formerly of Greensboro, GA died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington, GA. Born in Aiken, SC on March 25, 1920 she was the oldest child of the late Charles Manning Durham and Annie Heath Durham. She graduated from Woodville High School and on September 12, 1942 she married Sammie Asbury Bryan and they made their home in Greensboro. During her working career, she was the assistant personnel manager at Chipman Union retiring in March of 1985. Over the years she also worked for Mary Leila Cotton Mill and Henson Furniture Company. She was an active and longtime member of Walker United Methodist Church where she served in numerous positions and as the secretary for many years. She was also a member of BPW (Business Professional Women). Mildred enjoyed gardening, reading and cross stitching.
She is survived by a daughter, Sheila Bechtol of Covington, GA; a grandson, Andrew Alan Bechtol and wife Nicole of Covington, GA; four great grandchildren, Kristina Marie Bechtol, Hailey Renee Bechtol, Christopher James Bechtol and Peyton Michael Bechtol; brother, Charles Durham, Jr. and wife Betty; sister, Annette Wardlow; extended family members, Amy Bechtol, Jarred Overman, Jewel Overman and Brielle Overman and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie Bryan; son-in-law, Alan Bechtol; grandson, James Bechtol; great grandson, Jacob Alan "Jake" Bechtol; and siblings, Mary Durham, Betty June Geiger, Esther Winton, Evelyn Etheredge and Ollie Pearce.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker United Methodist Church with Rev. John Pike and Rev. Russell Nuss officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Andrew Bechtol, Mark Geiger, Matthew Geiger, Robert Moon, Colin Russell and Lee Sanders . The family requests that any memorials be made to the Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.
