Michael Walker Obituary

Michael was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from his home on Lake Oconee Georgia. He was released from his 18-month, hard fought battle with Stage IV Colon Cancer. He was 71, born in Pontiac, Michigan, one of four boys. He lived with his family there on acres of apple orchards where they created many wonderful boyhood memories. He was an Acolyte at St. Mary’s Episcopal and as a talented singer was part of the choir.  In 1972, he went on to Corning, NY to receive his Associate Degree in Physical Education at Corning Community College. Michael received a letter in Golf from both his High School and College Golf teams. This began his life-long participation and love of the game of golf. He absolutely loved playing 18 holes with his friends. Michael was elected into the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) in 1987. During his 38-year career in golf, he worked as a Club Professional in various clubs throughout the Carolinas. He created his own Instructional DVD on golf technique, to teach and inspire his love in others in a very simple way. Michael owned and managed Partridge Run Golf & Country Club in Spartanburg, SC from 1985-88. Most recently worked as the Head Assistant Golf Professional at The Preserve at Verdae Greens in Greenville, SC. He went on to become the Assistant Golf Coach for Georgia Military College in Milledgeville GA, and was part of leading the Golf Team to the National Championship in 2019, championship ring and all!

In May of 2010, Michael married Pam, the love of his life, to him Pamela, affectionately called “Pretty Girl”. He loved sports including tennis and football. He attended Lake Oconee Church. He loved his friends, all of whom know that Michael was not afraid to share his opinion on a subject. He was especially proud of his daughter, Brooke and the family she is building.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, John Bruce and Marion Walker. He is survived by his wife Pamela Walker of Eatonton, GA; daughter, Brooke Walker (Bob), Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Paul Walker (Bonnie), Long Beach, CA; Craig Walker (Robin), Spartanburg, SC; David Walker (Sandi), Beaver Dams, NY; grandson, Ryken Pisarski, Spartanburg, SC and other nieces and nephews.
