Michael Thomas Keaveney of Greensboro, GA formerly of Franklin, Mass died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at his residence at the age of 72. Born July 7, 1949, in Boston, Mass he was the son of the late Martin Joseph Keaveney and Gertrude “Jean” O’Connell Keaveney both of Waltham, Mass.
He was a graduate of Marquette University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971 and Bentley College where he received a Certificate of Accounting with honors in 1980. Michael later received his CPA license and enjoyed more than forty years as President and Managing Partner of O’Brian, Fitzgerald, Taylor and Keaveney P.C. in Waltham, Mass retiring in 2014.
He married Sharon E. Tilburg on May 6, 2003, in Maui Hawaii. They lived many years in Franklin, Mass before retiring to Greene County eight years ago. Michael enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends and following Boston sports teams. He ran in multiple marathons, volunteered with Hoop Shoots and was an avid golfer. He was Vice-President of the Men’s Golf Association and a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife of 19 years, Sharon, he is survived by his children, Meaghan Venuti of Merimack, NH, Julie McCarthy (Chris) of Scituate, Mass and Daniel Keaveney (Maria) of Owensboro, KY; step-children, Amanda Perkins and John Perkins (Lee) both of Winder, GA; siblings, Jean M. Tierney of Norfolk, Mass, Peter M. Keaveney (Lisa) of Maynard, Mass, Mark J. Keaveney (Linda) of Maynard, Mass, Eileen M. Riethle of Marlborough, Mass and Kathleen A. Keaveney of East Sandwich, Mass; seven grandchildren, Joseph and Lilli Venuti, Karlie Keaveney, Callan and Lyla McCarthy, Elizabeth Perkins, and Noah Peppers; and also survived by many nieces & nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Father Michael Silloway officiating with a reception following the service from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lake Club at Reynolds, 1100 Lake Club Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 30, 2022, at McCommons Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Keaveney, Buddy Estle, John Perkins, Chris McCarthy, James Rodman and Madigan Pratt.
